The Superintendent,

Sir I beg most respectfully to offer myself as a candidate for one of the vacancies of "Supervisor and Examiner" at Hong Kong. I have completed 14 years service and I am 31 years of age.

If accepted, I should agree to the deduction for my Passage from my wages, should I return before the completion of 3 years service.

I may mention that I have a good knowledge of French (Commercial and Conversational) and of German (Conversational) which should be of some use at an International Trading Centre such as "Hong Kong".

It is not without due consideration on my part with regard to climate and conditions that I write this application, but I should be glad of some information re percentage of Europeans attacked by plague or Fever.
